Alright, Alright I know, the title of this blog might have some of you thinking, WHAT?!? I LOVE GARLANDS.

Yes I love garlands too, but I’m here to tell you, you should reconsider them for your centerpieces. And here are a few reasons why.

Often times brides will choose table garlands for their centerpieces in hopes it is going to be a lower price point than a full flowered centerpiece. Of course, greenery garlands should be less expensive… right? WRONG.

Greenery garlands are quite time consuming to make and the labor involved is quite extensive. Add that plus the cost of the amount of greens needed to create a beautiful lush garland, plus the length needed per table, and it starts to become the same price as a beautiful flower centerpiece.

Our greenery only garlands start at $32.00/ foot, times that by a 6 foot table and you’re paying $192.00 for just a greenery garland. If you want blooms included then that adds an additional $6.00 per foot, making your garland $228.00 per six foot table. You can have a beautiful flowered centerpiece for that same cost that will add more color and life to the table. Our flowered centerpieces begin at $185.00 per piece.

Additionally, everybody wants eucalyptus garlands, which I get it, eucalyptus truly is all the rage. however they DIE so fast once on the table and by the time your guests sit down, they are not looking their best because they just do not last. No matter how much we hydrate them, and keep them cool, the minute they get on that table, they are dying because they do not have a water source.  They look dried out almost immediately. After my first couple of seasons of doing mainly eucalyptus garlands, I’ve realized they actually are not the best greenery for a garland. If you do a flowered centerpiece, those have a water source and they will look their best because of that, making them so much more beautiful.

If you do want to go the garland route, then stay away from eucalyptus and stick with greenery that is long lasting out of water, like ruscus, salal, bay leaf and olive branch. Those will look great for your entire event.

So if you were to ask me what type of centerpiece you should do, skip the greenery and garlands and just go with a flowered centerpiece, It’s around the same cost as a garland with blooms and you have pieces that will look beautiful the entire night, not just for the first hour.
